The boundaries between Campton Township, the Village of Campton Hills, St. Charles Township and the City of St. Charles can be tricky to understand — even for longtime residents.
With Campton Township seeking a $17.2M bond referendum for acquiring and rehabbing open spaces in the April 1 election, now felt like an ideal time to break down how these areas formed, why they remain distinct and how their unique history continues to shape local governance.
From grassroots efforts to prevent unwanted developments to a rich agricultural history, a lot’s happened since Campton Township formed in 1835. We’ll dig into that and share some maps to help you get a clear picture of where each area begins and ends.
