Cannabis retailer canAFarm Dispensary LLC is pursuing plans to open a location at the current Fifth Third Bank site on Main Street in Elburn. The proposal is currently under review by village officials, with traffic impact being a primary concern.
Key points:
The village's Planning Commission has given preliminary approval, contingent on a traffic analysis, lighting assessments and other items.
If approved, the dispensary would operate between 9AM-9PM, with security measures in place and no on-site consumption allowed.
Local reaction has been mixed — some residents are worried about traffic and community impact, while others point to successful dispensaries in nearby areas without any issues
The village administration will make its final decision after reviewing the required traffic study, which will help determine if the Main Street location can accommodate the business without causing congestion issues.
