For those unfamiliar, the Kane County Association for Home and Community Education (KCAHCE) is a nonprofit with about 80 members that enhances the lives of individuals and families through educational programs while encouraging responsible leadership and community service.
It’s part of the Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, which has over 3,600 members that work to promote social and economic well being in local homes and neighborhoods.
The KCAHCE group, which is open to the public, held its latest monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 19, in St. Charles.
At the meeting, North Aurora resident Don Catchpole shared stories and photos from an 18-day tour of South Africa he took with family in 1994. Catchpole spoke about golfing near crocodiles, digging for diamonds, and spotting Caterpillar equipment in action overseas.
The event included members from several KCAHCE units across the county. The group's next meeting will be an annual session Wednesday, May 21, at 10:30AM at 535 S. Randall Rd. in St. Charles. Guest speaker will be William Pack on "Don't Forget: The Science of Memory." Lunch is $25.
