Kane County has taken another step in coordinating its economic growth agenda with the establishment of the Kane County Economic Development Corporation.
This newly operational nonprofit aims to unite various local economic initiatives under one umbrella to create a more cohesive approach to fostering business and industry across the county.
Key points
The County Board has committed $3 million in federal funds over three years to kickstart the organization’s activities.
While receiving initial public funding, the organization is designed to be primarily led by private industry, with a board of directors featuring local business leaders.
Goals include supporting existing businesses, attracting new companies, and maintaining comprehensive economic data for the county.
A strategic plan is in development to guide the corporation's efforts, focusing on areas such as manufacturing support, start-up assistance, and agricultural innovation.
Austin Dempsey, owner of Batavia Enterprises, will serve on the initial board of directors.
