It’s time to wave goodbye to those delightful yard signs — election season has come to an end. As of last night, these are the results for key Kane County offices:
State’s Attorney: Jamie Mosser (D) leads Andrew Sosnowski (R)
Circuit Court Clerk: Theresa Barreiro (D) leads Anthony Catella (R)
Coroner: Monica Silva (D) leads Robert Russell (R)
Board Chairman: Corinne Pierog (D) leads Lance Bell (R)
Auditor: Penny Wegman (D) leads Gretchen Butler (R)
Recorder of Deeds: Sandy Wegman (R) leads Marisela Villegas (D)
Ballot questions: Illinois' three statewide non-binding ballot questions on election interference, expanded IVF coverage and boosting taxes on millionaires for property tax relief all passed by wide margins.
Forest preserves: The Kane County Forest Preserve District’s Land Acquisition & Preserve Improvement Referendum passed. Learn about the initiative.

🚩 In tangentially related news, nearly 5K people submitted entries in a contest to redesign the Illinois state flag. The public will vote on a winner next year.

☑️ Civic happenings: Geneva City Council approved a landmark designation for the Brownson-Baumann House and also approved the 302 River residential development. View the project narrative and renderings of the proposed buildings.
🔒 Reelection bid: Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke will seek a 12th term in office. First elected in 1981, he’s believed to be tied as the longest-serving mayor of an Illinois town.
☑️ Threatening behavior: Batavia police are investigating a report of a man who was offering candy to children while hiding in a cluster of trees near Louise White Elementary School.
☑️ Righting the ship: FermiForward, a group led by the University of Chicago, will begin work to implement a new vision when it takes over management of Batavia-based Fermilab in 2025.

☑️ Serious wreck: A single-vehicle, roll-over crash shut down Seavey Road from Bliss Road to Deerpath Road on Wednesday. Officials are investigating the incident.

☑️ Fox’s future: St. Charles’ Fox River Dam Joint Task Force will meet Thursday (11/7) to continue gathering and analyzing information related to the forthcoming dam decision. Anyone can attend (including online via Zoom).
☑️ Veterans Day: The annual St. Charles Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Monday morning (11/11) at Fire Station 1 — followed by the 18th Annual Veterans Day Salute Concert at St. Charles North High school in the evening.
☑️ Campaign cleanup: Several drop-off facilities in the Tri-Cities area will accept campaign signs for recycling over the next couple of weeks. See the locations and the steps you should take before recycling.
☑️ Sky supply: Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is among the first U.S. hospitals to test drone deliveries of medical supplies and specimens on its campus — a peek into the potential future of healthcare logistics.
☑️ Fall planting: It’s not too late to plant trees and other greenery this fall — but you should probably do it soon. Both Wasco Nursery and Heinz Brothers Greenhouse have great deals on certain items.

This weekend’s lineup features some fun, out-of-the-ordinary performances with the Winterfest Art Market happening all weekend in downtown Batavia and the Guitars for Vets celebration at Riverlands Brewing in St. Charles on Sunday (11/10).
