As St. Charles is prepares to set its 2024 property tax levy, local residents are no doubt curious about its impact on their taxes. The St. Charles Government Operations Committee recommended approval of a preliminary estimate of about $24M for the upcoming levy.

Key info:

  • The proposed 1.7% increase in the overall operating levy would be the smallest increase in six years.

  • Despite this increase, existing homeowners are unlikely to see higher tax rates due to TIF revenue and new development offsetting the rise.

  • The final levy will be discussed at the City Council meetings on November 4 and December 2, with a public hearing scheduled before the final vote.
